Demy To Represent Greece At Eurovision 2017

The Greece broadcaster ERT announced yesterday that Demy will be representing the country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. A national selection show will decide the song she will sing.

Rumours have been circling for months about Demy being involved in negotiations with ERT about Eurovision 2017; with many of the rumours suggesting the broadcaster couldn’t decide between a national final or an internal selection.

Finally, they announced Demy as their representative, with news of a national selection show that will showcase three English language songs which Demy will perform.

The public will then decide which of the songs she should sing at Eurovision 2017. The winning song will be decided by 100% of the public vote.

All three songs have been written by Dimitris Kontopoulos; who has been responsible for Sergey Lazarev’s “You Are The Only One“, Farid Mammadov’s “Hold Me“, and Ani Lorak’s “Shady Lady“. The staging will be done by Fokas Evangelinos, who has worked with many Eurovision artists in the past; mainly the same ones as Dimitris Kontopoulos.

This is quite the formidable team, and if the past is anything to go by, Greece might be on to a top-ten. The Dimitris Kontopoulos and Fokas Evangelinos pairing has never won the contest, but they’ve never worked with Demy.
